ASID Pasadena Home & Garden Tour October 7th, 10:00am – 4:00pm The semi-guided tour will give design enthusiasts a glimpse into Pasadena’s rich culture, showcasing three diverse home and garden styles. A personal take on a designer showcase house, this tour takes you inside real properties throughout Pasadena and South Pasadena. Art/work/place Fund Raiser Sunday, October 7 During this day only, you will have a chance to experience an art/work/place Introductory Lesson for a minimum donation of $10, with all proceeds going towards funding the amazing programs that the Pedagogical Institute of Los Angeles provides locally and across the globe. Classes will run at 9:00AM, 10:30AM, 12:00PM, 1:30PM and 3:00PM and are available for children ages 3 to 18.

CERT Basic Training – Oct 6, 13, 20, 8:00am to 1:00pm each day This 12 hour course teaches the CERT Basics including Fire Safety, Disaster Medical Operations, Search and Rescue, & Hazardous Materials. Must complete all 3 classes to graduate. In 95% of all emergencies, a neighbor, co-worker, or bystander is the first person at the scene of an emergency. The 15th annual Walk or Bike To School Day on Wednesday, October 10th at the three elementary schools as well as the middle school. South Pasadena Youth Commissioners will be at the schools handing prizes to those who walk or bike to school. Our local Police & Fire Department personnel will be on-site as well. Registration for the 2019 Earthquake Brace+Bolt (EBB) program will be open October 9 through November 13, 2018. Applicants will be notified in early 2019 about acceptance into the program. If you haven’t retrofitted your house, you could receive up to $3,000 toward an EBB seismic retrofit. To qualify for reimbursement, a permit must not be issued or retrofit work started before being selected to participate. WaterFest Saturday, October 13 from 10 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Each Fall, Upper District partners with the Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation to host WaterFest. WaterFest is a community outreach event focused on educating residents on water conservation and environmental stewardship. School is back in full swing, stores are carrying sweaters, scarves and jackets, and the empty lot at Fremont and Mission is getting ready to become the pumpkin patch! Carnegie Observatory open house Sunday, Oct. 14th from 2-5 pm. Join us for an afternoon of discovery as we explore the past, present and future of astronomy at the Carnegie Observatories.If you have kids, I’d recommend you get there right when it starts. Healthy Happy Halloween Hoedown at South Pasadena Farmers’ Market Thursday, October 25 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 pm. Trick-or-Treat: Many of our farmers and vendors will be decorated for our family friendly Market, and will have special treats! Look for signs that will be displayed on the booths of participating vendors. The South Pasadena Farmers’ Market is located on Meridian Avenue and El Centro Street.
Halloween Spooktacular Friday, October 26 at from 5:30 p.m.-8:00 p.m. The event will be located at Orange Grove Park, 815 Mission Street, South Pasadena.
