Tree Lighting Festivities at Farmers Market November 30

It’s the most wonderful time of the year and it’s time to light up our tree, South Pasadena! South Pasadena Chamber of Commerce invites everyone out to celebrate the holiday season at the annual Holiday Tree Lighting. It’s a super fun, family event which takes place Thursday November 30, 2017 at the South Pasadena Farmers Market, from 4pm-7pm and is a festive kick-off for the holiday season.

Kids (18 years old and under) are invited to participate by making an ornament for the tree.  There is one more ornament-making workshops offered by art|work|place in South Pasadena on Sunday, November 19, 2017.  The workshops are free!  If you know of a child that would enjoy this activity, registration is available by calling 626-578-5626.

Festivities will begin at 4:00 pm, with the South Pasadena High School Tiger Marching Band performing a variety of toe-tapping tunes.  Choirs of children from Green Brooms Music Academy, Oneonta Coop Pre-School and the South Pasadena Music Center & Conservatory will also entertain the audience with holiday tunes.

The highlight of the evening will happen at 6:30 pm, when Mayor Michael Cacciotti will “flip the switch” and the tree will light up!  Dozens of lights, glittery candy-cane and other colorful décor and the very special kids’ ornaments will certainly be a breathtaking sight!  Last year, a cedrus deodora, a type of cedar that will grow and thrive in this area, was planted; it can be enjoyed year-round by visitors and will be “dressed up” for the holidays!

Keep an eye out for Santa Claus and the chance to visit, share a holiday wish list and take photos with him.  (Santa will also be at the Market on December 7, 2017.)  Fun arts and craft activities are being planned by Kidd’s Jewelry Heist, Partini and SmileHaus Orthodontics will just add to the fun and festive evening.  The South Pasadena Historic Museum will be decorated for the holidays, and the South Pasadena Preservation Foundation will have seasonal treats for visitors.

Ride your bikes to the Market and park them with the bike valet!  This free service is available every Thursday during Market hours and is provided by the Cub House.  The bike valet is conveniently located on Meridian Avenue, near Mission Street.

The event is presented by the South Pasadena Chamber of Commerce.  The Chamber would like to thank, in advance art|work|place, Day One, Kidd’s Jewelry Heist, Partini, SmileHaus Orthodontics the South Pasadena Preservation Foundation for their generous support of this event.
