Interactive Music Sessions for Young Children
Families with young children can enjoy a fun and educational experience at Toddler Tuesdays – Musical Mornings at The Autry Museum. Held on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month, this engaging program offers free admission for Autry Family members and is included with a paid adult museum ticket. Children under age 5 attend for free. Advance registration is required due to limited space.
Led by music educator Tim Hancock, these interactive workshops take place in the Family Play Space and are designed to introduce children to musical concepts in a fun, age-appropriate way. Two sessions are available:
- Session 1 (10:30 a.m.) – Ages 0–2.5 years
- Introduction to music through singing, movement, and action songs
- Exposure to rhythm and pitch in an engaging format
- Session 2 (11:15 a.m.) – Ages 2.5–5 years
- Hands-on learning with Boomwhackers percussion tubes
- Introduction to music theory, rhythm, and song structure
A Fun and Educational Musical Experience
The program incorporates listening, singing, dancing, and playing instruments to teach fundamentals like rhythm, harmony, pitch, tempo, and dynamics. Using color-coded charts and child-friendly instruments, even the youngest participants can engage in music-making in a meaningful way.
