All four of the South Pasadena High School bands, under the direction of Howard Crawford, performed a tapestry of music from classic to contemporary along with some holiday favorites much to the delight of the crowd gathered Thursday evening. The concert was held in the high school auditorium to a standing room only crowd and they were in top form.

The evening began with the Concert Band playing the celebratory “Celebration and Song” and “Ammerland”. Next up was the Symphonic Band playing “Among the Clouds”, “With Every Sunrise” and the Todd Stalter piece “Ingnition”.

Jazz Ensemble did a crowd pleasing rendition of “Sweet Georgia Brown”, followed by “Christmas Island” and the finger snappin’ “Lindy Hopper’s Delight”. You could almost feel the snow and taste the hot chocolate as they dug into “This Christmas” and ended with “Come on, Come Over”.

Closing out the spectacular evening of music was the Orchestra performing “Ani Ma’amin”, “Symphony No. 5 in E Minor” and finally you could feel the audience sigh as they closed the show with a perfect rendition of “The Christmas Song”.
A tremendous time was had by all and it was a perfect way to get into the holiday spirit. We are indeed lucky to have Mr. Crawford and such an outstanding music program at the high school that the whole community gets to enjoy!
