Several times throughout the school year, SPUSD teachers and staff participate in professional development days. On Monday, November 5, 2018, middle and high school teachers learned more about specific instructional practices and social-emotional learning.

Teachers viewed the documentary film “Angst” — designed to raise awareness about anxiety issues in students.  High school teachers also participated in sessions focused on analyzing school climate data, a discussion of homework time commitments, stress relief for students, mindfulness techniques, and a Peace over Violence presentation on sexual misconduct.

In addition to viewing the film, middle school teachers took part in sessions focused on differentiation using Google classroom, English language development strategies, and classroom technology tools to enhance students’ listening and speaking skills.

Thank you to the teachers, counselors, and administrators who helped develop several of these professional development sessions and led the discussions within the groups.
