SPHS Cross Country CIF Finals and State

Two top South Pasadena harriers were among top southland runners to advance to this weekend’s state championship meet to be held in Clovis. Abby Errington will be a runner to be reckoned with at the prestigious meet as she placed second at the CIF division 4 championship meet with a new school record time of 16.28.6

Errington will be joined by her teammates as the team also qualified with a third place finish. It will be the third time in row that the girls have advanced as a team to the state meet.

In the boys sector, standout Keeran Murray also advanced to the championship event with a 13th pace finish, but the team failed to advance by a narrow 4 point margin.

9th Saidbh Byrne 17:35.5 (9 sec PR, #5 all-time SoPas, #2 all-time junior, currently ranked 19th in D4 State this year)

SoPas Boys 8th 177 points(4 pts away from 7th) and a team time of 77:09.4 a probable NEW SCHOOL RECORD team time for 3 miles

Usual #3 gets tripped/trampled at the start and is last at 50m, bravely works his way back to 4th man only to be gassed at the end. This start is supposed to be called back but official doesn’t see it.

16th MICHAEL SCARINCE 14:58.2 (12 sec PR, NEW FRESHMAN SCHOOL RECORD, #5 all-time SoPas, #2 freshman 3 mile time in the State this year and #3 Freshman 3 mile time in the NATION this year)
