last Saturday night at NBC Seafood Restaurant in Monterey Park. “And, of course, we have been sponsors of many Chinese Cultural events. SPCC also strives to continue to meet the needs of our community with grants to local schools and scholarships to graduating students. Approximately $20,000 was raised, according to SPCC officials, through the dinner, drawing, a balloon pop and silent auction.  Organizers said the 50/50 drawing raised $1,400, with 50 percent going to SPCC grants and 50 percent to the winner. The balloon pop, with prizes inside balloons, brought in another $800. The event also featured performances by young musicians, recognition of past board members and dancing.
