Come join the South Pasadena Arts Council (SPARC) for its fun-filled “Night of 100 Artists” spring fundraiser on Saturday, April 13, at 7 p.m. at the South Pasadena Masonic Lodge, an evening of “sideshow”-themed entertainment and an “artwork random drawing” guaranteeing each participant one of 100 original, 10×10-inch pieces of art on display—contributed specifically for the event by 100 local, national, and international painters, illustrators, photographers, and collage artists.
How it works: 100 numbered artwork-drawing tickets will be sold. During the evening, a ball machine will randomly select a number and the holder of that number will choose a piece of art from those still available.
“Sideshow” entertainment will feature close-up magic with magician Michaelann Awesome, and mystical readings with carnival fortuneteller and psychic Sansa Asylum. Silent auction items will include author-illustrator David Shannon’s signed and framed original drawing of his beloved character “David,” from his best-selling Caldecott Honor book, “No, David!”; a sculpture by Robert Burgert (Kiser Originals), known for his transformative works shaped from scrap metal; and a gift certificate valued at $350 for a summer children’s art party by art/work/place.
A made-to-order taco bar will be provided by popular Kon-Tiki Taco caterers; dessert will be donated by Bristol Farms. Beverages (margaritas, beer, wine and assorted soft drinks) will be served.
$100 – Admittance for one, plus one numbered entry in the random art drawing.
$125 – Admittance for two, plus one numbered entry in the random art drawing.
$25 (as space allows) – Admittance for one.
All tickets include silent auction, entertainment, food and drink.
Commemorative art catalogs featuring images of all the artwork, with artists’ names and contact information, will be sold during the event for $10.
An advance look at the participating artists and their art can be found on the SPARC website.
“We are extremely thankful to the 100 artists who have generously shared their creativity and contributed a unique piece of art for this event,” said SPARC President Sandy Kitto. “The diversity of subject matter, technique and media is impressive and exciting to see.” “A Night of 100 Artists” Masonic Temple at 1126 Fair Oaks Avenue, South Pasadena.
