SPACE Art Workshop a Hit | Wonderful Wednesdays at Library Bring the Fun
Artists from SPACE - South Pasadena Arts Center, a community arts organization, helped children make their own creations this week during the second of the "Wonderful Wednesday" series at the South Pasadena Public Library.
Artists from the South Pasadena Arts Center (SPACE), a community arts organization worked with children who made a variety of creations during the second “Wonderful Wednesday” event of the summer in the South Pasadena Public Library Community Room.
Christine Chin, a SPACE teacher, presented “The Bird Show: Colorful Birds and their Nests,” a session of creating art inspired by the natural world.
With assistance from John James Audubon and Charley Harper, the SPACE instructors useda variety of art and natural materials in helping the kids sculpture colorful birds before creating their nests.

SPACE no longer operates a storefront studio on Mission Street in South Pasadena, but continues its non-profit mission to produce arts events and advocates for arts education.
The next featured performer for July 3 is Mr. Twister, the Balloon Man, who will help children make balloon hats to wear in the Fourth of July Festival of Balloons Parade while marching with the South Pasadena Library’s Summer Reading Program.
Participants of the Summer Reading Program traditionally gather on the Diamond Avenue side of the Library at 10:30 a.m. on Independence Day in preparation for showing their library spirit and marching in the Festival of Balloons parade.
The South Pasadena Public Library is open on Sunday 1 p.m. – 5 p.m.; Monday and Friday at 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.; Tuesday through Thursday 11 a.m. – 9 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
The “Wonderful Wednesday” series is sponsored by the Friends of the South Pasadena Library, the South Pasadena Public Services Employees Association, and the National Charity League, San Marino Chapter. The series continues with a different theme, entertainer or entertainers every Wednesday through July 31.
Programs will be held in the Library Community Room at 1115 El Centro Street in South Pasadena.
