The South Pasadena TASSEL chapter is hosting its first benefit ever on May 20th at 6pm the Brookside Golf Club. This event promises to be a fun-filled evening of music, food, silent auction and presentations on the TASSEL organization and the work they do.
What is TASSEL you ask? It is a non-profit 501 (c)(3) organization based in Cambodia, dedicated to helping impoverished Cambodian students receive a proper English education to get higher paying jobs. TASSEL stands for Teaching And Sharing Skills to Enrich Lives and has many clubs all over the world. Its founder is Joji Tatsugi and some of the services TASSEL provides includes providing food, medicine and shelter to students and their families in order to help improve their lives which have been adversely affected by genocide and poverty.
The South Pasadena club is based at South Pasadena High School where members teach Cambodian children and teachers through VSee, which is like a Skype program, once a week. There are also writing teachers that correct essays and other written work by the Cambodian students.
The benefit on May 20 seeks to raise funds to help TASSEL in all of these endeavors
The TASSEL Benefit takes place on May 20 from 6 pm to 8:30 pm at the Brookside Golf Club. This is a ticketed event. You may purchase tickets at SPTASSELBENEFIT.TicketLeap.com
