The South Pasadena Public Library offers three opportunities to engage children and teens this winter.

Virtual Storytimes have resumed after taking a Holiday break. New Virtual Storytimes are made available each Monday at 10:30 a.m. on the Children’s page of the Library’s website at southpasadenaca.gov/children and on the Library’s Facebook page and YouTube channel. For the convenience of viewers, the new Storytimes and past Storytime playlists may be accessed throughout the week on the Library’s YouTube channel.

Take and Make Craft Kits will be available for pick-up every 2nd and 4th Thursdays of the month starting on Thursday, January 14. Each kit will have instructions to create the craft. All materials will be provided except for scissors, glue, and crayons. Take & Make kits will be distributed on a first come, first served basis starting at 11:00 a.m., while supplies last. Specific craft details will be announced on the library’s social media pages – Facebook and Instagram.

Children and Teens are encouraged to create a bookmark in honor of our upcoming 2021 Summer Reading Program’s Theme “Reading Colors Your World.” Bookmark Contest forms will be available on our website and at the Library Takeout Station, starting February 1. Forms can be returned via mail or dropped off in our book-drop in an envelope labeled Children’s Services – Bookmark Contest. All entries must be returned by Monday, March 1.

The South Pasadena Public Library building is currently closed to the public for the health and safety of our community, although patrons may check out books via Library Takeout, a no-contact check-out/pick-up service. Library Takeout is open on Monday – Thursday 11:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m; Friday – Saturday 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.; Sunday – Closed.

For patrons who would like a librarian to select their next perfect books, DVDs, Blu-rays, or audiobooks, the Library offers the Materials Matchmaker service. Library users may submit a form, available online or at the Library Takeout door, and then a librarian will select materials based on the patron preferences and prepare them for pick-up.

The Library is located at 1100 Oxley Street in South Pasadena. For more information, check the Library website at www.southpasadenaca.gov/library or call Children’s Services at (626) 403-7358.
