Four arrested after traffic stop early Wednesday morning

SPPD RELEASE

On Wednesday, February 17, 2021, at 5:30 a.m., a resident in the 800 block of Montrose Avenue alerted police to a catalytic converter theft in progress. As officers were responding, the resident updated police the suspects had fled northbound on Garfield Avenue in a white Volkswagen.

Moments later, a police officer spotted the Volkswagen turning north on Fair Oaks Avenue. The officer conducted a traffic stop and identified the four occupants as 30‐year‐old Adrian Hernandez of Los Angeles, 25‐year‐old Chelsea Garcia‐Gonzalez of Santa Fe Springs, 33‐year‐old Crystal Garcia of Los Angles, and 25‐year‐old Angie Vega of Long Beach.

A search of the vehicle yielded several items of evidentiary value connecting the four to theft. All the suspects were arrested for conspiracy, theft, possession of narcotics, possession of burglary tools, and possession of nitrous oxide.
