South Pasadena Girls Cross Country Has Best Year Ever

South Pasadena Girls Cross Country just completed their best year ever, racing to 5th place at the CIF State Championships and breaking the school record for team time by -2:40 at Woodward Park in Clovis/Fresno with 96:10.

Sophomore Abby Errington broke the individual school record for Woodward Park by 1 second with 18:20.7 in 14th place. Sophomore Amelie Geoffron ran the 4th best all-time SoPas with 18:53.0 for 26th place. Sophomore Saidbh Byrne ran the race of her life in #8 all-time SoPas with 19:16.6, a lifetime personal record for 37th place. Senior Leo Gonzalez-Pacheco ran #10 all-time SoPas in 19:28.9, also a lifetime personal best in 48th place.
Sophomore Sofia Humphrey ran #14 all-time SoPas with 20:10.5. Freshman Amada Cortes ran #9 freshman SoPas in 20:29.9, and Freshman Rose Vandevelde ran #10 all-time freshman SoPas in 20:37.6 on the longer 5000 meter (3.1 miles) course compared to the usual 2.93 miles at CIF Southern Section Championships at MtSAC and 3 miles at Rio Hondo League Championships at Lacy Park.

The girls culminated the season with their 7th school record team time of the year with records set at Orange County Great Park Woodbridge Classic, Lacy Park twice, MtSAC 3x previous to State. Abby Errington set her 5th school record here at State, preceded by Woodbridge, Lacy Park 2x, and MtSAC 2x.
Said Coach Mike Parkinson “next year we go for top 3 podium spots and why not win the whole thing!!!” Sounds like a plan, Coach! Way to go Tigers! Congratulations!
