Rain was no deterrent for the enthusiasm in the air at the opening night of “Ragtime: The Musical” at Pasadena Playhouse Sunday evening, February 10, as stars, donors and musical theatre lovers of all kinds descended for what was to be an extraordinary night of theatre.
Ragtime is making a triumphant return to Los Angeles after premiering here at the Shubert in 1998. Fans of the show are thrilled as well as those new to the Tony award winning musical.
A transparent tent was placed over the lovely front courtyard at the Playhouse for mingling and red carpet interviews before the show. After the emotional performance and a rousing standing ovation, theatre goers were treated to a spectacular party with food, drinks and music. The cast joined in the fun and all posed together on the red carpet. It was a fantastic kickoff to what is sure to be a very successful run.
