On May 5, 2022 the National Day of Prayer residents of South Pasadena gathered at Oneonta Church for the Seventh Annual South Pasadena Prayer Breakfast. The well attended event carried on the tradition of bringing together people from the many different religions in and around South Pasadena.

The prayer breakfast committee raises funds throughout the year to give awards to organizations doing good in the surrounding area. This year the recipients of awards included Professional Child Development, Fire Family Foundation, Boys and Girls Club of Pasadena and Young and Healthy Pasadena.

The keynote speaker was Mary Donnelly Crocker, the retiring executive director of Young and Healthy Pasadena. She was introduced by Pete Kutzer, a prominent member of South Pasadena. Her remarks were on the need to exhibit compassion and not just to have empathy with those in need.
In addition to some musical numbers, the events lead up to leaders of varied congregations in the area leading those in attendance in a communal prayer.
