LA Dodgers Executive Ned Colletti Returns to South Pasadena Library

The Ned Colletti Author Night will be presented on Thursday, September 20 in the South Pasadena Library Community Room. Ned will be discussing his book, “The Big Chair: The Smooth Hops and Bad Bounces from the Inside World of the Acclaimed Los Angeles Dodgers General Manager.” Doors will open at 6 p.m. for the event showcasing Ned in conversation with Mark Langill, an All Star baseball writer in his own right.

Mr. Colletti is currently Senior Adviser to Andrew Friedman, President of the Dodgers, and an Emmy-award winning TV analyst for their post game shows on SportsNetLA. Ned was also, of course, General Manager of the Dodgers from 2006 through 2014. In that capacity, he was responsible for overseeing the team’s entire baseball operations.

Ned Colletti is one of the great American baseball lifers. During his extraordinary career, Colletti has worked with such stars as Andre Dawson, Ryne Sandberg, Barry Bonds, Greg Maddux, Dennis Eckersley, Nomar Garciaparra, Joe Torre, Don Mattingly, and of course, Vin Scully. He has also been closely involved in dealings with Clayton Kershaw, Zack Greinke, Corey Seager, Kenley Jansen, Cody Bellinger, and Yasiel Puig.

Mark Langill, the Historian and Publications Editor for the Dodgers , is the author of Dodgertown,” “Dodger Stadium,” “Los Angeles Dodgers,” and “Game of My Life, Dodgers.” Mark can also be heard frequently on radio and TV, and his articles appear regularly in Dodgers programs and yearbooks. Langill has appeared on the MLB Network production of “Cathedrals of the Game: Dodger Stadium” and more recently on ESPN’s “30-for-30” documentary “Fernando Nation.”

The Library Community Room is located at 1115 El Centro Street. Admission is free, refreshments will be served, and autographed Ned Colletti and Mark Langill books will be available for purchase. No tickets or reservations. Doors will open at 6 p.m. For more information, please call 626 403-7350.

Mr. Colletti and Mr. Langill will sign books starting at 6 p.m. before their presentation at 7 p.m. and after the Q & A that will conclude around 8:30 p.m. Special surprises will be presented between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m., including an appearance by Roger Owens, the behind-the-back peanut bag tosser at Dodgers games for more than 60 years.

The Library Community Room is located at 1115 El Centro Street. No tickets or reservations are available and refreshments will be served. Seating is limited as are the number of books available for purchase. The event is presented by the South Pasadena Public Library, the Friends of the South Pasadena Public Library, and Flintridge Books and Coffeehouse with Special Thanks to 210eastsound, Penguin/ Random House, Cindy Murphy, and Charles Yung.

Free parking is available in the South Pasadena Unified School District lot at 1020 El Centro Street (entrance from Fairview Avenue between El Centro and Mission) and after noon at the Mission Meridian Parking Garage located at 805 Meridian Avenue adjacent to the Metro Gold Line Station, only one block from the Library.
