Based on the beloved classic Roald Dahl book, James and the Giant Peach Jr. is a magical story with a beautifully complex score and easy-to-love characters…well, most of them! Young Stars Theatre kicks off their 2023/2024 season October 13, 2023.
As Music Theatre International states, “When James is sent by his conniving aunts to chop down their old fruit tree, he discovers a magic potion that grows a tremendous peach, rolls into the ocean and launches a journey of enormous proportions. James befriends a collection of singing insects that ride the giant piece of fruit across the ocean, facing hunger, sharks and plenty of disagreements along the way.”
With two fun casts to watch (some actors even being in both casts as different roles), come enjoy two different experiences of the same whimsical musical and fall in love with the characters all over again! This story is great for the whole family and will make you laugh and cry right along with James and the insects.
Liz Barone’s direction, Avalon Kerr’s choreography, and Miranda Miller’s music direction bring this show to life, with the help of many of YST’s very own members, and of course Gloria Bennett, producer and founder of Young Stars Theatre. Once a year the YST Membership gets to help produce their own show, giving them hands-on experience on the crew’s side of theatre as well as the cast’s side, and this is that show!
