Youngsters by the hundreds flocked to Garfield Park on Saturday for the city’s annual Eggstravaganza Easter celebration.

The highlight of the afternoon was when various age groups raced to collect filled Easter eggs that had been spread over the grassy area of the park. Councilman Bob Joe kicked off the first hunt after a short welcome to the kids and their parents, afterwhich he counted down to start off the annual ritual.
In addition to the egg hunt there were a variety of entertainment venues available for the kids to partake in, as well as informational booths for the parents. Food booths were set up to satisfy the hungry and thirsty, as well as fun activities such as egg decorating, face painting, and games.

Of course the most important guest of honor was the Easter Bunny who greeted children and had fun with them comparing noses and giving thank you hugs. The Eggstravaganza is put together by the City of South Pasadena and has become a much anticipated family event for South Pasadenans, young and old alike.
