HAIRSPRAY! South Pasadena Middle School Musical

The middle school cast of Hairspray performed a showcase of songs to promote the forthcoming spring musical April 27 - May 6 at SPMS

On Thursday and Friday night the cast of South Pasadena Middle School’s Spring Musical performed a Broadway  Showcase to preview their forthcoming production of HAIRSPRAY.  The showcase concert featured selections from Hairspray along with popular tunes and monologues from other Broadway shows.

Highlights of the evening included Greased Lightning from Grease and You’ll Be Back from Hamilton.  This preview was part of the new program being run by San Gabriel Valley Musical Theater.  More students are participating in the musical this year than ever before including several dozen who are working behind the scenes as they learn set construction, lighting and costuming.

HAIRSPRAY is a big and bold musical about one girl’s inspiring dream to dance. The 1950s are out, and change is in the air! Hairspray, winner of eight Tony Awards, including Best Musical, is a family-friendly musical, piled bouffant-high with laughter, romance and deliriously tuneful songs.  Performed by SPMS talented students in the SPMS Auditorium, Friday April 27th at 7pm, Saturday April 28th at 2pm, Sunday April 29th at 2pm, Friday May 4th at 7pm, Saturday May 5th at 7pm and Sunday May 6th at 2pm.
