The South Pasadena Rotary Club heard a presentation on Tuesday, Jan. 9, about Engineers Without Borders from four students and a mentor from Caltech in Pasadena.

Gordon Treweek, an engineering student mentor, presented with Anuska Rau, Katherine Gou, Kayva Ramakrishnan, and Rachel Ng about their efforts to construct a water purification system in Nepal.

Members of Caltech’s Engineers Without Borders made two trips to design and then lead the construction of the system in a remote part of the country where there is no electricity. It required the water purification system to be designed using gravity and natural filtration.
