Earth Day Extravaganza

South Pasadena’s Earth Day in the Park on Sunday will feature a full afternoon of family fun. Included are a garden tour, plant swap, toy swap, exhibitor booths, activities for kids, food and beverages. It all takes place at Eddie Park, 2017 Edgewood Dr. in South Pasadena from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m.

The event, hosted by South Pasadena Beautiful, features:                                      •Tour of six sustainable gardens / tickets $10 – Kids tour free.
•Participate in a toy swap. Bring a gently used toy and take a toy that’s new to you.
•Participate in a South Pasadena Beautiful plant swap. Bring a plant and take a plant.
•Free tree lecture at 1:30 p.m. followed by a tree tour by Dr. Jerold Turney.
•Enjoy fun activities for the whole family.

It concludes nearly a week of Earth Day fun, which also featured a student art exhibition, storytimes for children, Dumpster Day, tour of the city’s community garden, a free e-waste drop off and a discussion on sustainability.

Gina Atkinson, president of South Pasadena Beautiful, said proceeds from the garden tour within walking distance of Eddie Park will fund a landscaping project at the city’s post office in the 1000 block of Fremont Avenue.
