Dorothy Cohen Remembrance

St Patrick's Day event for the memory of a prominent member of our community.

Dorothy Mahoney Cohen’s family announces that an event for the public to remember Dorothy is being scheduled. This will take place starting at 4 p.m. on St. Patrick’s Day, Saturday, March 17, 2018, at the Library Community Room, 1115 El Centro Street, in South Pasadena. Doors open at 3:30 p.m.

Cohen was prominent in South Pasadena for decades. She enhanced the quality of life in the city as a mayor, councilmember and president of the Library Board of Trustees and Friends of the Library. She co-founded the highly successful library bookstore. Cohen was also a school district employee and involved in other community activities. She passed away on Jan. 20 at age 92.

Cohen’s friends and admirers are invited to attend the event. Some opportunity will be provided to share remembrances of one of South Pasadena’s most distinguished citizens. A toast will be made in her memory.
Cohen was known as a keen appreciator of dessert. Thus, sweets of all types will be served at the memorial, thanks to the Friends of the South Pasadena Public Library Hospitality Committee.

Dorothy was Irish, so fittingly, the event is being held on St. Patrick’s Day. The family suggests wearing green.

The event will be held at a location of significance to her—the Library—but seating is limited. Please email RSVPs to rsvpdorothy@gmail.com.

Two-hour street parking is available. Handicapped parking is available in front of the Library Community Room. A large parking lot is available at the NE corner of Fairview Ave. and El Centro St., adjacent to the two-story office building at 1100 El Centro St. The lot can be accessed from both streets.
