South Pasadena, CA: Santa Claus might be the one in the news right now, but guess who else is coming to town? A big green ogre named Shrek!
Young Stars Theatre has announced auditions December 22nd for their first musical of 2019, “Shrek Jr.”. Auditions are open to actors 18 and under. There are two sessions that day and a video audition option if you can’t make either one in person.
The production rehearses Saturday mornings beginning in January, and runs 4 weekends during the month of March. For full info, and to register for an audition session, go to www.YoungStarsTheatre.org/auditions.
“Shrek Jr.” is based on the DreamWorks animated film, and tells the story of an ogre named Shrek. One day, Shrek finds his swamp invaded by banished fairytale misfits who have been cast off by Lord Farquaad, a tiny terror with big ambitions. When Shrek sets off with a wisecracking donkey to confront Farquaad, he’s handed a task – if he rescues feisty princess Fiona, his swamp will be righted. Shrek tries to win Fiona’s love and vanquish Lord Farquaad, but a fairytale wouldn’t be complete without a few twists and turns along the way.
Also, this weekend is the last chance to catch audience favorite “Elf Jr” on stage this year, Saturday and Sunday, the 15th and 16th at 2pm.
