They’re set to go after months of training in anticipation to Sunday’s 34th Los Angeles Marathon.
It all starts at 6:30 a.m., as thousands of runners will take to the streets on a 26.2-mile path while seeing the city up-close-and-personal.
It marks the 10th year that the start of the event will be at Dodger Stadium as participants will wind their way through downtown, pushing past Echo Park Lake, along Sunset Boulevard to Hollywood Boulevard, passing the Walk of Fame, south to the Sunset Strip, to Santa Monica Boulevard, slipping briefly into Beverly Hills, finally to Ocean Avenue where runners will finish at the Santa Monica Pier.

The LA Marathon, dating back to 1986, is one of the largest marathons in the United States as more than 25,000 participants from 50 states and 63 contries will join hundreds of thousands of spectators along the route on Sunday.
Public transportation, it appears, is probably the best way to go as shuttles reserved for runners will have pickups early Sunday morning at Union Station after taking a ride into Los Angeles on the Gold Line. Metro will run trains every nine minutes Sunday to allow marathon entrants to and from the finish of the race.
