Caltrans announces overnight lane and ramp closures the week of Aug. 10 for bridge work on two locations on the 101 through LA and the 110 freeway through Highland Park/South Pasadena.
U.S. 101 and Santa Monica Boulevard/State Route 2
Motorists will experience the following overnight closures from as early as 10 p.m. to as late as 5 a.m. daily, Monday night through Saturday morning, Aug. 10-15:
- One lane of eastbound and westbound Santa Monica Boulevard closed between Western Avenue and U.S. 101
- Up to two lanes of northbound U.S. 101 closed between Melrose Avenue and Santa Monica Boulevard
- Up to two lanes of southbound U.S. 101 closed between Western Avenue and Santa Monica Boulevard
- Northbound U.S. 101 offramp to Santa Monica Boulevard closed
- Normandie Avenue onramp to northbound U.S. 101 closed
- Santa Monica Boulevard onramp to southbound U.S. 101 closed
110 Freeway at Avenue 60
- The Avenue 60 onramp to the northbound 110 closed between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. Friday
- The Avenue 60 off-ramp from the northbound 110 remains closed
Additionally, the posted speed limit will be reduced by 10 mph in each construction zone. Signs alerting motorists of the closures and reduced speed limits will be posted.
Closures and lane reductions are subject to change due to weather or operational reasons.

This work is part of a $15.8 million project to upgrade existing bridge rails to current standards and increase the durability and longevity of four bridges on U.S. 101 at Alvarado Street, First Street and Santa Monica Boulevard/State Route 2 and SR-110 at Avenue 60.
