Two distinct musical journeys converge in the heart of our community, offering residents a night of deep storytelling, faith-inclusive indie rock, and master-level guitar performance.

Under the warm glow of evening lights on Mission Street, local music lovers will gather this week to share in a long-standing community tradition that turns a simple room into a shared living room.

The beloved Wine & Song concert series returns this Wednesday, June 17, 2026, from 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM at The Hive, located at 1118 Mission Street in South Pasadena. This week’s showcase brings together two highly accomplished artists, Jessica Gerhardt and Christina Apostolopoulos, for an evening that explores heritage, spirituality, and musical craft.

Anthemic Indie Folk with a Spiritual Heart

Los Angeles native Jessica Gerhardt takes the stage to share songs from her newly released album, Alight Beyond the Sea. Raised in a mixed-faith Catholic-Jewish household, her music carries a distinct, inclusive spiritual bent that transitions seamlessly from intimate ukulele melodies to fiery indie rock.

As a sponsored Lanikai Ukuleles artist and co-founder of the arts collective Parnassus & Co., Gerhardt has built a reputation for creating deeply connective musical spaces. Her performance promises to deliver a powerful blend of vulnerability and anthemic storytelling that speaks directly to the human experience.

Soulful Vocals and Masterful Guitar Chops

Sharing the evening is Greek-Canadian singer-songwriter Christina Apostolopoulos, who brings her exceptional slide guitar skills to the South Pasadena stage. Raised in Santa Barbara on the timeless music of legendary troubadours like Paul Simon and Jackson Browne, her style effortlessly bridges folk, rock, and jazz.

Apostolopoulos later honed her craft at the prestigious Berklee College of Music, graduating Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Guitar Performance. Her forthright songwriting and rich vocals offer a perfect complement to the night’s acoustic intimacy.

The Wine & Song series continues to serve as an essential repository for grassroots musical culture in the San Gabriel Valley. Events like these rely on the active participation of residents, neighbors, and local arts advocates to keep the city’s independent music scene thriving.
