While finals and the end of the school year may feel like the only thing worth focusing on right now, Hodis Learning & Music (HLM) encourages families to start thinking ahead to summer activities, including summer tutoring.
Although many students look forward to taking a break from academics from June to August, summer tutoring can be incredibly beneficial, especially for students who struggled during the school year.
“Here’s the thing: when a student is already behind or struggling at this point in the school year, waiting three months is only going to make it harder for them to catch up,” explains HLM president and founder Drew M. Hodis. “Tutoring over the summer can help that student catch up while the material is still fresh. Then, when they start school next year, they’re on track with the rest of their peers.”
Hodis Learning & Music offers individualized tutoring for all core academic subjects, including math, science, English, history, and foreign languages. HLM pairs each student with an experienced, dedicated tutor who adapts lessons to meet the student’s unique learning needs and goals. Summer tutoring sessions are flexible and can be scheduled as frequently or infrequently as needed to fit around vacations, camps, and other summer plans.
In addition to traditional academic support, HLM also offers enrichment tutoring for students who want to explore subjects more deeply, get ahead before the fall semester, or participate in creative and engaging educational activities during the summer.
“We know there are a lot of summer activities to choose from, but learning is something that will always be valuable, and we can make it fun,” says Hodis. “Our educators can lead engaging educational activities, like at-home science labs or math games to apply concepts in fun ways.”
