Senator Sasha Renée Pérez (D-Pasadena) has issued the following statement on the hate crime and vandalism reported at the Pasadena Jewish Temple and Center:
“I am very concerned to learn the Pasadena Jewish Temple and Center was vandalized in a clear act of hate. This community has already suffered greatly with the destruction of their physical temple and center during the Eaton Fire, and now someone has inflicted furthered pain.
“As our community was remembering those we lost in the Eaton Fire and consoling one another, an ignorant person chose hate, over healing.
“The rise in antisemitism across the world is wrong and must be confronted. All people deserve to live in safety with the ability to exercise religious freedom.
“I stand with the Pasadena Jewish Temple and Center congregation who have remained united with open hearts to help our community recover.
“I hope the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office identifies the person or persons responsible for this horrible act and brings them to justice.”
