Tip From Public Leads to Arrest After Christmas Electric Bicycle Theft | South Pasadena Police

On Friday, December 26, 2025, at about 1:30 p.m., a theft of two electric bicycles was reported to the South Pasadena Police Department (SPPD) which occurred from an apartment complex in the 200 block of Monterey Road. Security camera footage captured a lone suspect committing the theft during the evening on December 25, 2025. After video of the suspect was aired by local news outlets, SPPD Detectives received a tip which led to the identification of the suspect involved and the issuance of arrest and search warrants on Monday afternoon.

Prior to the service of the search and arrest warrants, the suspect, who was identified as Joaquin Estrada, 31, of Los Angeles, and an acquaintance arranged to return the bicycles to the owner on Monday evening.  Police were informed of the scheduled return and located Suspect Estrada in a parked vehicle at the proposed meeting location. Suspect Estrada was arrested without incident, and the bicycles were recovered and subsequently returned to the owner.

Suspect Estrada was arrested and booked into the Pasadena City Jail for grand theft and burglary charges and is scheduled to be arraigned in Pasadena Superior Court on December 30, 2025.
