In Your Community
We continue to provide the highest level of protection from vectors and vector-borne diseases to reduce outbreaks of human diseases in San Gabriel Valley.
District Communication

Fall Is Here, But the Bugs Didn’t Get the Memo
Even with cooler weather arriving, mosquitoes and black flies are still a concern. Our communities are currently seeing a high number of black flies, which are a nuisance but don’t transmit disease in LA County. Mosquitoes, however, can still carry dangerous viruses like West Nile virus and Dengue.
We are actively monitoring and treating public mosquito and black fly breeding sites.
You can help by:
- Tip & Toss Stagnant Water: Eliminate anything that can hold water to prevent mosquito breeding once a week.
- Managing Black Fly Sources: Temporarily turn off fountains or water features for 24 hours once a week to disrupt black fly breeding.
- Use Mosquito Repellent: Apply mosquito repellent whenever you’re outside to prevent bites. Need protection from mosquitoes & black flies? Make sure that your repellent contains the active DEET ingredient.
Your Community Investment at Work
As a friendly reminder, our services are already covered by your property taxes, so there is no additional cost to you. Your investment directly supports our mission to protect public health. We offer a variety of free services to help our community, including:
- Property consultation and water source checks
- Free mosquito fish for fountains and ponds
- In-school educational programs and community presentations
Together, we can continue to keep our neighborhoods safe and healthy.
Outreach In Your Community

Mosquito Activity In Your Community

In Disease Control
We continue to maintain essential vector surveillance including mosquito traps for disease testing, providing weekly data to the District, and maintaining mosquito fish.
Eaton Area Response

We have just completed our second round of proactive mosquito control treatments as part of our ongoing response in the Eaton area.
Our crews are actively targeting high-risk mosquito breeding sites, including both full and empty pools that were impacted by the recent wildfires. These treatments are essential to prevent mosquitoes from multiplying by the millions, which significantly reduces the risk of mosquito-borne diseases in the community.
In Education
We continue to provide excellent science education services and reduce mosquitoes in homes and schools within the San Gabriel Valley.
