South Pasadena’s creative community came alive Saturday night as Hotbox Vintage hosted “Too Hot To Be Poor”—an immersive art show and market curated by Natasha Pirouzian and Colin Lawrence of ‘The Bizarre Eclectic’. From 5 to 9 p.m., the Mission Street shop turned its rustic outdoors into a buzzing night market, lit with strings of bulbs, live performance, and a lively mix of vendors and artists.

An Evening of Art, Music, and Community
What unfolded was more than just a pop-up. It felt like the beginning of a new tradition—an enchanting late-summer gathering where creativity, nightlife, and neighborly connection overlapped seamlessly.
Guests explored vendor booths filled with handmade jewelry, custom leather bags, original prints, vintage racks, Y2K lounge décor, and quirky collectible blind bags. A photo wall, inflatable lounge, and the casual smell of hotdogs grilling rounded out the sensory experience, while an acoustic set by Andrea Ramirez Romo added an intimate musical heartbeat to the night.

The event was co-founded by @tragicinpublic Natasha Pirouzian and @_colincolincolin Colin Lawrence, also known as @the.bizarre.eclectic, with the official event Instagram at @toohottobepoor

A Hotbox Tradition Evolves
Hotbox Vintage has long been a magnet for South Pasadena’s creative scene—its past events blending vintage style with music festivals, flower bars, and block-party energy. Too Hot To Be Poor extended that legacy but introduced something new: the feel of a night market, where the experience itself became the draw. Vendors and visitors mingled freely, sharing stories, laughing over finds, and making connections that felt organic to the setting.

More to Come
If Saturday’s turnout and atmosphere are any indication, this won’t be the last. Guests left not only with bags of art and clothing but also with the sense they had stumbled into something fresh for South Pasadena—an authentic, come-as-you-are creative gathering that could grow into a recurring tradition.
As the evening closed under the glow of string lights and the hum of conversation, one thing was clear: Hotbox Vintage is home to real creatives that know how to throw a party with soul.
