News release from LA County Supervisor Kathryn Barger:

In an effort to accelerate recovery and preserve the character of Altadena, the Foothill Catalog Foundation has unveiled a transformative initiative: a series of pre-approved architectural home plans tailored specifically for the Altadena community.

This thoughtful program is designed to help residents rebuild faster and more affordably, eliminating the need for expensive and time-consuming custom design processes.

A Milestone Moment: First Family Moves In

In partnership with San Gabriel Valley Habitat for Humanity, the Foundation’s efforts have already made a tangible impact. On a celebratory day, the Wood family officially became the first to move into one of the 25 planned homes being built through this collaboration.

“Effective recovery is about both speed and soul,” the Foundation shared.

These pre-approved designs not only streamline construction but also reflect the unique charm and spirit of the Altadena community.

Affordable, Accessible, and Community-Centered

The Foothill Catalog Foundation’s initiative addresses the urgent need for accessible housing solutions post-disaster, offering hope and stability to families affected. With the support of Habitat for Humanity, the project promises to deliver 25 thoughtfully designed homes, each blending functionality with architectural character.
