South Pasadena, CA – May 10, 2025 – The South Pasadena Fire Department, with support from Pasadena and Alhambra fire units, swiftly responded to a structure fire in the 100 block of Monterey Road at approximately 8:40 p.m. The coordinated firefighting efforts successfully contained the blaze, preventing further property damage and ensuring the safety of all residents and pets.

Fast Response Prevents Spread to Adjacent Units

Engine 81 was first on the scene, where firefighters encountered a significant fire emanating from the front door of a single-story, bungalow-style four-plex unit. Crews immediately deployed hose lines and launched an aggressive interior attack to suppress the flames. Their rapid and organized response prevented the fire from extending to neighboring units, safeguarding both property and residents.

No Injuries Reported; Investigation Underway

Simultaneously, firefighters conducted a thorough search of the premises to confirm that no individuals or pets were trapped inside the affected unit. Thanks to the team’s quick actions and effective teamwork, the fire was contained to the unit of origin. There were no reported injuries to residents, firefighters, or animals. However, one resident has been displaced and is currently staying in temporary housing.
