The historic Sierra Madre Playhouse will transport audiences back to the golden age of silent cinema with a special double feature in partnership with Retroformat Silent Films. On Saturday, April 5, 2025, at 11 AM, the Playhouse will screen two legendary silent film comedies: The Garage (1920) starring Buster Keaton and Roscoe “Fatty” Arbuckle, and The Battle of the Century (1927) featuring Laurel and Hardy.

A Celebration of Classic Cinema

This family-friendly event will showcase the charm and hilarity of early Hollywood, beginning with The Garage, a 21-minute slapstick masterpiece set in a small-town fire station. The screening will continue with The Battle of the Century, a 19-minute comedy classic famed for its legendary pie fight. This film was recognized by the Library of Congress in 2020 as “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant.”

Presented in collaboration with Retroformat Silent Films, the event highlights the organization’s dedication to preserving and promoting the art of silent cinema.
