A Doll’s House, Part 2 to Close Pasadena Playhouse’s 2025 Season
Lucas Hnath’s Acclaimed Sequel, Directed by Jennifer Chang, Runs May 14 to June 8, 2025

Final Production of A DOLLS HOUSE PART 2 Announced
Pasadena Playhouse, the official State Theater of California and recipient of the 2023 Regional Theatre Tony Award, has announced that A Doll’s House, Part 2 by Lucas Hnath will be the final production of its 2025 season. The play will run from May 14 to June 8, 2025, with a press opening on May 18, 2025.
The production will be directed by Jennifer Chang, known for her work on Primary Trust (Barrington Stage), King of the Yees (Signature Theatre DC), and On Gold Mountain (LA Opera).
A Contemporary Take on a Classic Character
As Pasadena Playhouse nears its centennial, its 2025 season has explored the meaning of “classic” theater, presenting works such as Cyrano, La Cage Aux Folles, and Topdog/Underdog.
A Doll’s House, Part 2 revisits one of theater’s most iconic characters, Nora Helmer, 15 years after she walked out on her family. This Tony-nominated sequel dives into the complexities of independence, identity, and societal expectations. Witty, bold, and full of unexpected turns, it brings fresh perspective to Henrik Ibsen’s groundbreaking 19th-century play.
