A man was arrested Wednesday morning after attempting to enter the South Pasadena School District office while carrying what appeared to be a sword, according to police.
The incident occurred at approximately 8:25 a.m. when a South Pasadena Police Department (SPPD) officer on patrol was flagged down by a school district employee. The employee reported that the suspect was trying to gain access to the building. Authorities confirmed that no children were inside at the time.
Multiple officers responded to the scene, briefly evacuating the office while others searched for the suspect. The man was eventually found inside an office, where he had ingested poison pellets. A plastic sword was discovered nearby. Officers detained the suspect without incident and transported him to a local hospital for medical treatment.
