SPPD PRESS RELEASE:

At 10:12 p.m. on Thursday, October 29, 2020, South Pasadena Police Officers responded to the 1900 block of Alpha Avenue on reports of a skateboarder down in the parkway. When officers arrived, they found residents performing life-saving measures on the critically injured man. The male was transported to Huntington Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The preliminary investigation determined the man was visiting from Florida and decided to skateboard down the hill without wearing a helmet. It appears the male lost control of the skateboard through a curve in the roadway, struck a curb, and was ejected onto the roadway.
