In a new twist, Marengo Elementary School teachers showed students their support at the opening of school this month by writing notes with chalk on the sidewalk at the entrance of the campus.

The chalk messages were well received as kids and parents were stopped in their tracks admiring the work of the educators.

“The teachers like to get together and head to the front of the school and write sweet and encouraging welcome back messages for the students to read on their way into school on the first day back,” said Marengo second grade teacher Holly Lang.
