The South Pasadena Public Library will host the penultimate event in its Wonderful Wednesday summer series with a lively performance of Joy of Music by Craig Newton on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. on the Oxley Street side of Library Park. Newton will introduce ten different musical instruments and perform fun, high-energy songs perfect for children but enjoyable for all ages.
Summer Programming Continues Through August 2

The Library’s Wonderful Wednesday series will conclude on July 30 at 6:00 p.m. in the Library Community Room, but other summer activities will continue through August 2. These include a robust lineup of storytimes, the Summer Reading Program, and events for both children and adults.
Storytime Schedule:
- Preschool Storytime (ages 3–5): Tuesdays, 10:30–11:00 a.m.
- Toddler Storytime (ages 1–3): Thursdays, 10:30–10:50 a.m. and 11:00–11:20 a.m.
- Family Storytime (all ages): Saturdays, 10:30–11:00 a.m.
These storytimes promote early literacy, social skills, and cognitive development in engaging, age-appropriate ways.
Events for Adults: Walk ‘N Talk and All Abilities Club
The All Abilities Club (AAC), designed for adults with disabilities, will meet on Thursday, August 8 at 10:00 a.m. in the Library Community Room at 1115 El Centro Street. No registration is required.
The Walk ‘N Talk Book Club will meet on Wednesday, August 13 at 9:00 a.m. outside the Library on Oxley Street. Pre-registration is required at southpasadenaca.gov/register.
Summer Reading Program Encourages Daily Reading Habits
The Summer Reading Program runs through August 2, encouraging people of all ages to read daily and log their progress for prizes. Research shows that children and teens who read at least 20 minutes a day gain a measurable literacy advantage and avoid the “summer slide” in academic progress.
