
The City of South Pasadena invites residents and visitors to celebrate Independence Day at the beloved Festival of Balloons on Friday, July 4, 2025. This year’s theme, “Unity in Community: One Nation, One Neighborhood,” reflects the city’s commitment to fostering togetherness and pride among neighbors.
Morning Festivities Begin with Pancake Breakfast and Opening Ceremony
The celebration kicks off early at 7:00 a.m. with the Kiwanis Club Pancake Breakfast at the South Pasadena Fire Station (817 Mound Avenue). The Opening Ceremony follows at 10:30 a.m. in the Library Community Room (1115 El Centro Street), where local dignitaries and community leaders will offer remarks before the parade begins.
Festival of Balloons Parade Starts at 11:00 a.m.
The highly anticipated Festival of Balloons Parade starts at 11:00 a.m., traveling from Diamond Avenue to Garfield Park. Featuring community groups, marching bands, and festive floats, the parade is a cherished tradition that draws families from across the region.
Family Fun and Food at Garfield Park
The celebration continues at Garfield Park until 2:30 p.m., where guests can enjoy games, food vendors, and a live DJ. The park becomes a hub for families to relax and celebrate the holiday with fun-filled activities for all ages.
Fireworks Show at South Pasadena High School
Evening festivities move to the South Pasadena High School Stadium (1401 Fremont Avenue), where the gates open at 7:00 p.m. The rock band Faultline will perform live from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., leading up to the spectacular fireworks show at 9:00 p.m.

Poster Contest Winners on Display
In celebration of this year’s theme, winning entries from the Festival of Balloons Poster Contest will be exhibited at the South Pasadena Chamber of Commerce Gallery (1121 Mission Street). The gallery will be open to the public on July 4 and July 8, showcasing the creative work of local youth artists.
