The new Design Review Process is now in effect. The new process includes delegating design review to the following review authorities:
Community Development Director:
Commercial/Industrial: Exterior modifications, and new structures or additions up to 500 square feet that would not change the existing architectural style
Additions under 500 square feet and not visible from the street
Non-historic signs
Planning Commission Chair:
Commercial/ Industrial: New construction and additions between 500 square feet and 3,000 square feet
Additions over 500 square feet or more than 25% of the existing structure
Additions visible from the street
Exterior modifications that substantially change the architectural style of residential and commercial buildings
Planning Commission:
New single-family residences
Commercial/ Industrial: New construction and additions greater than 3,000 square feet
Any other applications which the Planning Commission is identified as the Review Authority
June 10, 2025 at 6:30 p.m. – Planning Commission Meeting
The Planning Commission will hold its regular meeting on June 10, 2025 at 6:30 p.m. within the City Council Chambers to continue their discussion for the adoption of proposed amendments to the General Plan Land Use and Housing Elements, the Downtown Specific Plan, South Pasadena Municipal Code (SPMC) Chapter 36 (Zoning) and Zoning Map to adjust height, density, development standards and housing overlay boundaries.
June 16, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. – Community Meeting
Please join the Community Development Department on June 16, 2025 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers to talk about height and density scenarios within the City from the recommendation of the Planning Commission. Your input and presence are welcome!

Camp Med 2025 Summer Program Camp Med 2025
Camp Med is back and ready to give your child a season full of fun, learning, and adventure. This popular day camp is held at Orange Grove Park (815 Mission St.) from June 9 through August 8 and features a dynamic mix of arts and crafts, outdoor games, sports, swimming, and themed weekly activities. Each week also includes exciting field trips to destinations such as Underwood Family Farms, the Los Angeles Zoo, Raging Waters, the California Science Center, an LA Sparks game, and a beach trip. Camp Med provides a safe, engaging environment where kids can make new friends, stay active, and enjoy a wide variety of enriching experiences. The weekly rate is $178 for the first participant and $165 for each sibling. Registration opens March 10 for residents and March 24 for non-residents.

Public Hearings / Council Meetings
Join Us at Our Next City Council Meeting! City Council Meetings are held on the first and third Wednesday of the month, at 7:00 p.m., in the Council Chambers, located at 1424 Mission Street. Under this hybrid model, members of the public will have the option to either participate in-person at the Council Chambers or virtually via Zoom, and they are also streamed live via the Internet from the City’s website.
