Pasadena Chorale invites the community to experience the future of choral music at its ninth annual Listening to the Future concert, taking place on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at 7:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church Pasadena. This free public event features world premieres of original compositions by four outstanding high school students: Siri Baldrica, Fana Misa, Maya Proulx, and Zach Vasko.
New Choral Works Born from Mentorship
Over the past several months, the student composers have developed their pieces under the guidance of composer and Pasadena Chorale member Jen Wang. Through one-on-one instruction and practical workshops, participants in the Chorale’s Listening to the Future education program gained hands-on experience in writing for a professional-level choir.
The culmination of their creative journey will be realized as the Pasadena Chorale brings their compositions to life in front of a live audience.
A Platform for Young Talent and Community Connection

“Listening to the Future is about more than just showcasing young talent,” said Jeffrey Bernstein, Founding Artistic and Executive Director of Pasadena Chorale. “It’s about providing students with a platform to express themselves through composition, while also giving our audience a glimpse into the future of choral music.”
This annual event reflects the Chorale’s mission to promote accessibility, cultural equity, and music education. The concert is free, but reservations are required for entry.
