On Saturday, April 26 at 11 a.m., Sierra Madre Playhouse welcomes acclaimed folklorist Baba the Storyteller to perform his heartfelt program Road of Ash & Dust: Awakening of a Soul in Africa. A practitioner of the ancient West African storytelling tradition known as Jaliyaa, Baba shares a powerful message of self-discovery through an engaging, family-friendly narrative.

Blending ancient tales with personal reflection, Road of Ash & Dust explores the universal human experience of finding purpose and identity. “Sharing our stories helps to build bridges of compassion and tear down divisive walls,” Baba explains.

Baba is one of the few American-born artists practicing Jaliyaa and has performed in thousands of schools and institutions worldwide. His storytelling has earned him a California State Assembly Certificate of Recognition for its creative impact.
