Come at 8:30 a.m. for refreshment& social time.  Meeting begins at 9:00

The City of South Pasadena has received a $30,000 grant from Los Angeles County and United Way of Greater Los Angeles. A consultant will be hired to analyze and develop solutions for the homelessness that persists in certain corners of the city and across its borders. At the start of the year, WISPPA Executive Board members discuss and plan out the calendar of events including topics for the monthly meetings. One topic that everyone mentioned was homelessness. Bianca Richards, WISPPA President, reached out to city staff. Karen Aceves Núñez, Management Analyst for the City of South Pasadena, invited the consultants to give a presentation to the community regarding the grant and then seek input. Karen said, “I appreciate you and your members reaching out to stakeholders for this meeting as it will be a wonderful opportunity to gather input and ensure this plan reflects the community.”

Judy Harris of WISSPA will lead a panel discussion: 1) what is being done to address homelessness in South Pasadena and surrounding communities, 2) what plans to address homelessness in the community are in the works, 3) what residents can do to help address homelessness in our community.  The panel will include the consultants and representatives from Holy Family Church’s St. Joseph Center, Union Station of Pasadena, and Friends in Deed of Pasadena.   Also in attendance will be City of South Pasadena’s Sergeant Shannon Robledo, who created the Homeless Outreach Program (HOPE) that balances the needs of the homeless community with law enforcement.
