The Arroyo Seco Foundation is having a special quarterly meeting on Wednesday, April 11th from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. to learn more about what local residents value about the Arroyo Seco. From a bird sanctuary to a casting pond to a long neglected outdoor amphitheater, the Arroyo is full of treasures. But not all of them are well known to the wider community. So the Foundation wants to hear from you about what you most appreciate about the Arroyo. Come share your views and help the Foundation to protect and care for Pasadena’s greatest natural treasure, the Arroyo Seco. Location: Wright Auditorium at the Pasadena Central Library

NWPC’s training for women interested in running for political office at any level will be held on Saturday, April 14 from 12:30-5:30 p.m. at the Flintridge Center. WISPPA is co sponsoring. There will be 3 separate sessions: Attend one, two or all three. 1st Session: Local City Councils and School/College Boards. Who they are, what they do. What to expect. 2nd Session: Winning Local Campaigns- A Primer: How to get started, your message and how to take it to your voters, how to raise and report money. 3rd Session: Altadena Town Council and Altadena Library Board. The special status of these two boards: who they are, what they do. What to expect. ​William Holden Centennial to be Celebrated at Library on Tuesday, April 17 at 7:30 p.m. with Classic Film, Live Music, Memorabilia Gallery, and Tribute by Stefanie Powers. The celebration will feature a 30 minute piano performance by David Batt, a recording artist who has released 2 CDs under his own name and 3 under the moniker, Yrsan Daro. David recently retired as the Finance Director of the City of South Pasadena. The event will also feature a video tribute to William Holden by Stefanie Powers, perhaps best known as “The Girl From Uncle” TV series and for co-starring in the popular “Hart to Hart” TV series. Stefanie was the William Holden’s intimate partner for about 10 years before he passed away tragically in 1992 and she has remained very active as an actress and as the President of the William Holden Wildlife Foundation.bvv. After Stefanie, the event will present a screening of the classic, “The Country Girl” (1954), a riveting film that showcases three stellar acting performances by Holden, Bing Crosby, and Grace Kelly who was accorded the Oscar for Best Actress for her portrayal. The film was also nominated for Best Picture of the Year, and an Academy Award for writer/director George Seaton’s spellbinding screenplay. For more info, click here.
Doggy Day…with Cats Too! Saturday, April 21 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm at Garfield Park The event is the perfect opportunity to discover dog and cat resources in the area. Adoption and rescue agencies, pet groomers and trainers, and retailers will be on-site to provide information on the services and products they offer. 2018 Sustainable Garden Tour and Plant Swap Sunday, April 22, 2018 1:00 PM 4:00 PM Six gorgeous homes will share their gardens with the public on this not to be missed garden tour. This year the tour will begin at Eddie Park. Our popular FREE plant swap will take place at Eddie Park from 1 – 4 pm. Everyone is invited to bring a plant and take a plant! Series of music concerts produced by the Pascale Music Institute (formerly the South Pasadena Strings Program) sponsored by the Woman’s Club of South Pasadena. The concerts will include a variety of music from Classical to Jazz and will be held the first Sunday of the month (2017-2018) at the Clubhouse. Professional musicians from the LA Philharmonic and students and faculty of the Institute will perform. Proceeds benefit the Club’s historic Building Restoration Fund.
