South Pasadena High prepares to face Maranatha Tuesday after 2-0 victory over Glendale in first-round CIF-SS playoff action

South Pasadena High’s girls’ soccer team, the first place finisher in the Rio Hondo League this season, will continue postseason play on Tuesday against Maranatha after a 2-0 CIF-Southern Section victory over Glendale Thursday afternoon.

With the win, South Pasadena improved to 17-3-1 on the season. The Tigers won the league race with an impressive 6-1-1 record.

Senior Emily Dunn scored the first goal for South Pasadena while junior Alyssa Bonk, the team’s captain, booted in the second goal.

The Tigers will face a Maranatha team that is 5-5-3 overall on the season. The Minutemen finished second to unbeaten Valley Christian (6-0) in the Olympic League with a 2-3-1 record.
