Dear SPHS Families:
In order to honor the service, friendship, and memory of Mr. Jim Asher, two events have been scheduled for our school community to gather together. Both of these events have been generated and planned by our students. You are welcome to attend either or both. Each is casual, so please just come if you are able.
First, tonight (Monday, 6/5), we will gather on the Tiger Patio from 6:30-8:00 for a candlelight vigil. There will be an opportunity to write memories. Some students may perform poems, songs, and talks. Feel free to bring your own candle.
On Wednesday (6/7) afternoon from 5:00-6:00, we will have a memorial service in the auditorium. Again, there will be tribute speeches and performances. Additionally, there will be a slide show created by Kevin Shon and Nick Michael. If you have photos of Mr. Asher to share, please email them ASAP to kevinshon@icloud.com.
The students did a fantastic and immediate job of altering Friday’s Farewell Assembly to include a tribute to Mr. Asher. We all felt the love and support at that time, and we invite anyone interested in attending tonight or Wednesday to join us for fellowship and remembrances. Students will send Facebook messages, and if you know any former graduates or others who would like to attend, please forward this information.
