They called it The Great American Eclipse. On August 21, 2017, millions of people across the United States saw nature’s most wondrous spectacle — a total eclipse of the Sun. The US saw a total solar eclipse from coast to coast…the sight of a lifetime, with 14 states in the pathway of totality. California was not in that pathway but we had about a 60% eclipse and because the school year had already begun, it was a fantastic group learning experience on our campuses.

South Pasadena Middle School Tiger Cubs viewed the eclipse, together with faculty and staff, on the soccer field, where they donned special eclipse eyewear to take in the spectacle. The excitement was palpable as faculty and students alike looked skyward in awe. Something they will surely not soon forget.
