Activities leading up to the 56th big game will be scattered throughout the City of Angels

When the new open-air stadium in Inglewood debuts in 2020, it will seat 70,000 and can expand to100,000 seats.

While the 52nd Super Bowl is upon us, plans are already in the works to bring the NFL’s biggest game to Los Angeles in February 2022.

The 56th edition will of the big contest will be played at the future home of the Los Angeles Rams and Chargers in Inglewood. It’s being constructed at the former site of Hollywood Park, torn down to make room for a new 70,000-seat, open-air stadium measuring 3 million square feet and is scheduled to open in 2020.

In other words, it’s huge.

Some of the features of the $2.6 billion stadium under construction will include:

  • A 70,000-seat, open-air stadium, expandable
    up to 100,000 seats.
  • A 6,000-seat performing arts venue.
  • Approximately 780,000 square feet of office space.
  • About 890,000 square feet of retail space.
  • State-of-the-art event, conference and meeting space.
  • 300 luxurious hotel rooms.
  • More than 25 acres of public parks, open space, pedestrian walkways and bicycle trails.
  • Family and fine dining.
  • 2,500 residential units.

Leading up the Super Bowl in Los Angeles, activities will be planned throughout the city, including the Commissioner’s Party at Universal Studios, and Fan Fest at the L.A. Convention Center and L.A. Live. Other events are planned for Venice Beach, Staples Center and the George Lucas Building, soon to be constructed in Exposition Park.

Upcoming Super Bowls will be played in Minneapolis, Atlanta, South Florida, Tampa, and Los Angeles, a city which hasn’t hosted one since Dallas defeated Buffalo at the Rose Bowl in January 1993.

The new $2.6 billion stadium in Inglewood will be in the heart of an new entertainment district featuring 6,000-seat performing arts venue, 780,000 square feet of office space, 890,000 square feet of retail space, State-of-the-art event, conference and meeting space and 300 luxurious hotel rooms.
