SPHS Girls Basketball Season Ends

Tigers upended by Culver City 67-48 Saturday night in CIF-SS Second Round Action on the road

South Pasadena High’s girls’ basketball team ended its CIF-Southern Section playoff run Saturday night as the Tigers fell to Culver City 67-48 on the road.

The second round loss came on the heels of South Pasadena’s exciting 56-53 victory over Chino in their postseason opener last Thursday.

The Tigers finished a standout season in which they won six of their final eight games.

With Saturday’s loss to the Centaurs, South Pasadena ended its season with a 14-16 overall record, including a 7-3 mark in Rio Hondo League play. La Cañada was the frontrunner while Temple City had an identical league record as the Tigers.

South Pasadena looks to be bring back a strong team for the 2018-19 season as the Tigers lose only two seniors to graduation – Naomi Kruzic and Tffany Holmes. Other members on the team include juniors Kayla Zhang, Flannery Clark, Kelly Mirhan, Elaine Yang, Lauren Kafkaloff, and sophomores Charlize Kruzic, Sydney Sakamoto, Emily Newhall, Megan Yee and Charis Au.
